Interview with Sanatan De, author of ‘Dam of Lost Days’

AuthorsWiki : When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Sanatan De : From the very schooldays, I used to read stories and novels and one time I realize that I shall also be able to write creative writing. As I grew older through different phases of good and bad, I used to spend my time by writing.

AuthorsWiki : Would you like to tell about your published books, so that readers can know more about your books?

Sanatan De : Dam of lost Days – a collection of short stories written originally in Bengali. Some are written about 20 years or more ago. During Corona period, I thought of translating some stories. Each story have a uniqueness. The seed of each plot that came in my mind, I sowed and reared with utmost care. And I got immense pleasure of successful creation.

AuthorsWiki : How did you become inspired to publish the book or someone inspired you

Sanatan De : Actually Taneesha Publishers inspired me to publish my book. I had a long desire but Neither did i get time nor did I get support.

AuthorsWiki : Would you like to share your experience from writing to publishing process with the our readers?

Sanatan De : Very excellent. Only I did my duty sincerely and rest is time. Everything is pre determined. I got a lot of appreciation from my family members, colleagues and childhood friends.

AuthorsWiki : What has been the toughest criticism you have received as an author? What has been the best compliment?

Sanatan De : Not yet received but I expect it from my assistant teachers. Best compliment from Dr. Dipanwita Mukherjee who told me that her class tenth daughter
was reading the book with quite interest.

AuthorsWiki : What have you found to be most challenging about writing?

Sanatan De : To establish the climax of each story with a good content and something new yet very familiar in our every day life.

AuthorsWiki : Who among your friends or family or others gave you the most support during the writing of the book?

Sanatan De : My two sons…

AuthorsWiki : What’s the most surprising thing you learned while writing your books?

Sanatan De : My manuscripts got the form of a book…and I got the same pleasure and joy as I got when my two sons born.

AuthorsWiki : In which genre do you do the most writing? And is it easy to write in this genre?

Sanatan De : Fiction…. in traditional yet in new approach… Very difficult.

AuthorsWiki : What is the most difficult part of writing a book?

Sanatan De : To create a good climax with a good content of story.

AuthorsWiki : How long does it take you to write a book?

Sanatan De : Almost two years…

AuthorsWiki : What is a special achievement or memorable event in your life that you would like to share with our readers?

Sanatan De : I stole someone’s writing to publish in my school magazine. And one of my friend caught me redhanded.

AuthorsWiki : Every writer has his own ideal, do you also have an ideal writer? And your favorite books that you always love to read?

Sanatan De : Rabindranath, Sharatchandra, Sesher Kabita, Debdas.

AuthorsWiki : Apart from being a writer, what other hobbies do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Sanatan De : Singing songs and playing tabla.

AuthorsWiki : Are you planning to write or publish any book in future? If yes! So would you like to tell on which topic or genre the next book will be based?

Sanatan De : Yes…a novellet. Romantic yet full of sacrifices.

AuthorsWiki : What important advice would you give a first-time author?

Sanatan De : Give best and original one that touches the heart.

AuthorsWiki : Would you like to continue in the world of writing in the future?

Sanatan De : Time knows….I ‘ll do my work.
