AuthorsWiki : Apart from writing, what is your occupation for livelihood?

Debadrita Sarkar : I’m currently pursuing my studies, and being a student plays a meaningful role in my growth. My academic life keeps me learning, observing, and exploring—things that naturally flow into my writing as well.

AuthorsWiki : Tell us something about your first book.

Debadrita Sarkar : My first book Cities and Villages is a children’s book published on the Bribooks store. It highlights the problems caused by pollution in both urban and rural areas, helping young readers understand these issues in a simple and engaging way.

However, my first officially published book is a chapbook titled Nature and Life – A Chapbook.

My book ‘Nature and Life’ is a collection of ten short poems that celebrate the beauty of nature and its gentle influence on human life. Through these poems, I express emotions, reflections, and a deep sense of gratitude toward the natural world. The book is beautifully illustrated and filled with peaceful, soothing verses—perfect for readers who appreciate the calm and comfort that nature brings.

AuthorsWiki : Would you like to tell us about your published books?

Debadrita Sarkar : Most of my published works are chapbooks. My first official book, Nature and Life – A Chapbook, celebrates nature and its impact on our daily lives.

My second book, Metamorphosis Through Living, is a thematically arranged micro-chapbook created for readers seeking hope and light during difficult times.

My third book, Short Poems for Every Life, contains short-form poems, mainly haiku, written to capture brief moments of love, loss, pain, and cherished memories.

My fourth book, The Brightest Moon, is an inspirational story about a student who learns to rebuild her life after experiencing failure.

My sixth book, Loved, But Undone, explores romance and the quiet grief that follows when love remains incomplete.

Apart from these, I have started two series:

  • Selected Poems of Solitary Thoughts – a collection of poems previously published in various periodicals
  • Quote Book Series – featuring original quotes written over time

I have also illustrated and published a children’s picture book titled Seasons, which is available exclusively on StoryWeaver.

AuthorsWiki : Where did you get the inspiration for publishing books?

Debadrita Sarkar : I get the inspiration from the other self published authors – Sandeep, Deepak Kumar, Micheal Colon. Though it was, where I accidentally started publishing books – unplanned. I actually had a dream to publish traditionally but I am loving this self publishing procedure and I will continue it.

AuthorsWiki : How do you manage your time to write a book?

Debadrita Sarkar : I write whenever my mind feels heavy and light, whenever there is pressure or leisure, All that means I love writting and I write whenever I can . So, other things aside, I write first or at least think about writting first of the day . My writting cycle hampers though during exams and those were worst days of my life.

Debadrita Sarkar : My favourite writting style is freeverse poetry. Maximum of my writtings published in different journals and my own chapbook, are poems only. I also write Haikus, Tankas, Sonnet , short stories and essays. But my best writtings are in Freeverse and narrative mode.

AuthorsWiki : When did you start writing, and how did your interest in writing begin?

Debadrita Sarkar : I started writting at 13. My interest began with poems only. Actually, I had a dramatic start. When I was 13, I was roaming on my roof, kind of vagabond, searching for the truth of life , and them my head stuck with an India which shook me so nice that I write it down and bang! That shapes if a poem and I became a writer , since then.
