0

At AuthorsWiki, we are delighted to connect with Venkatesh Prasad, a Graphic and Brand Designer and author from Bengaluru, India whose creative journey spans visual communication, personal branding, social perception, psychology, and supernatural storytelling.

Venkatesh works in visual identity, branding, and communication design, helping businesses build clear and consistent visual identities across platforms. Alongside his design practice, writing has become another medium through which he explores ideas surrounding perception, clarity, human behaviour, and storytelling.

He has published three books so far, each offering a distinct perspective. His first book focuses on personal branding and visibility for designers, the second explores social perception and the psychological impact of what people think, while his latest work, Inside Lock: A Collection of 10 Super Intense Horror & Supernatural Stories, ventures into supernatural horror through stories inspired by real incidents and events. Together, his work reflects an interesting combination of practical thinking, design expertise, psychological observation, and creative storytelling.

In this exclusive AuthorsWiki interview, Venkatesh Prasad talks about his journey from design to writing, the inspiration behind his books, his approach to creativity, and his plans for exploring perception, behaviour, and storytelling in the future.

AuthorsWiki: Apart from writing, what is your occupation for livelihood?

Venkatesh Prasad: Apart from writing, I work as a Graphic and Brand Designer. My primary focus is on visual identity, branding, and communication design for businesses across different industries.

I help brands create clarity through design, whether it is logos, brand systems, or marketing creatives. Design is my main profession, while writing complements it as a way to explore and express ideas in a structured form.

AuthorsWiki: Tell us something about your first book.

Venkatesh Prasad: My first book, How to Stand Out as a Designer, is based on my personal journey and observations as a designer. It focuses on clarity, visibility, and building a personal brand without unnecessary noise. The idea behind the book was to simplify concepts that many designers struggle with and present them in a practical and relatable way.

AuthorsWiki: Would you like to tell us about your published books?

Venkatesh Prasad: I have published three books so far, each exploring a different perspective. The first focuses on personal branding and visibility for designers. The second explores social perception and the psychological impact of “what people think.”

The third is a collection of supernatural horror stories built around real incidents and real events, designed to create tension and a sense of realism. Together, these books reflect both practical thinking and creative exploration.

AuthorsWiki: Where did you get the inspiration for publishing books?

Venkatesh Prasad: The inspiration came from a habit of writing and organising thoughts. Instead of letting ideas remain scattered, I wanted to give them a structured form. Publishing became a natural step—not with the intention of becoming widely known, but to document and share ideas in a more meaningful way.

AuthorsWiki: How do you manage your time to write a book?

Venkatesh Prasad: I don’t follow a rigid schedule. Writing usually happens alongside my design work, often in focused time blocks when I have clarity of thought. I prefer consistency over intensity. Even small progress over time helps in building a complete book.

AuthorsWiki: What is your favourite writing method—the one in which you write the most?

Venkatesh Prasad: I prefer starting with a simple idea or observation and building around it gradually. Instead of planning everything in advance, I allow the structure to evolve as I write. This approach helps keep the writing natural and closer to real thought processes.

AuthorsWiki: When did you start writing, and how did your interest in writing begin?

Venkatesh Prasad: I started writing as a personal habit rather than a planned decision. It began as a way to process ideas and understand perspectives more clearly. Over time, this habit developed into structured writing and eventually into publishing books.

AuthorsWiki: Is there any special achievement in your life that you would like to share with us and your readers?

Venkatesh Prasad: Publishing multiple books alongside my design career is something I consider meaningful. It reflects consistency and the ability to turn ideas into something tangible. Beyond that, building a presence through both design and writing has been an important part of my journey.

AuthorsWiki: Are you planning to write or publish a book in the present or future?

Venkatesh Prasad: Yes, I plan to continue writing and publishing in the future. I am interested in exploring more themes around perception, behaviour, and storytelling, possibly in different formats and styles.

AuthorsWiki: Would you like to give a message to your readers and fans?

Venkatesh Prasad: Focus on clarity in whatever you do. Whether it is writing, design, or any creative work, simple and clear ideas have more impact than complex ones. Consistency matters more than perfection.

AuthorsWiki: Every writer has their own ideal. Do you also have an ideal writer? And what are your favourite books that you always want to read?

Venkatesh Prasad: I don’t follow a single ideal writer. I am more influenced by ideas, observations, and psychological depth rather than specific individuals. I tend to prefer books that explore human behaviour, perception, and simple yet impactful storytelling.

AuthorsWiki: Apart from writing, what are your other hobbies that you enjoy in your free time?

Venkatesh Prasad: Apart from writing, I spend time exploring design concepts, observing trends, and working on improving my skills. I also enjoy analysing how ideas are communicated visually and conceptually.

AuthorsWiki: Would you like to remain in the writing world in the future as well?

Venkatesh Prasad: Yes, writing is something I see as a long-term part of my journey. It helps me think clearly and express ideas beyond visual formats, so I intend to continue it alongside my design work.
