At AuthorsWiki, we are privileged to have had the opportunity to connect with Mahwish Khan, a Author from Rajasthan, India, whose unique voice and creative spirit shine through in their latest work, Black Truth White Lies. Their book, already making waves across leading platforms, invites readers into a world shaped by imagination, experience, and purpose.
Mahwish is a writer based in Udaipur, Rajasthan—a city of lakes, slow evenings, and conversations that stretch longer than planned. She has been writing since grade 9, long before she knew what she was searching for in words, only that they felt like home. A natural conversationalist, she loves to chat, observe people, and explore pretty cafés where half the stories begin between sips and silences.
Her writing leans into humor, quiet mystery, and emotional honesty. She enjoys playful banter layered with depth, characters who say one thing and mean another, and moments that feel light until they suddenly aren’t. Mahwish doesn’t believe in overexplaining stories—she prefers to leave readers with a feeling, a pause, or a line that stays long after the last page.
In this conversation, the author opens up about the deeper motivations behind their storytelling, their personal and literary journey, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Whether you’re a fan of thoughtful writing or someone looking to understand the creative process, this interview promises valuable insight and inspiration.
AuthorsWiki : Apart from writing, what is your occupation for livelihood?
Mahwish Khan : Apart from writing, I am currently focused on building my career and exploring professional opportunities while continuing to develop my creative work. Writing remains a constant alongside my pursuit of a sustainable livelihood, shaping how I observe, think, and engage with the world.
AuthorsWiki : Tell us something about your first book.
Mahwish Khan : My debut book was published on 9th May 2021, a date chosen with love—on my father’s birthday. It’s called Mi Corazón.
AuthorsWiki : Would you like to tell us about your published books?
Mahwish Khan : I have published two books, both available on Amazon.
My debut novel, Mi Corazón, explores love in its most intense and vulnerable form—where passion, betrayal, and destiny collide, and emotions often speak louder than reason.
My second book, Black Truth, White Lies, takes a darker, more layered turn, delving into the contrasts between truth and deception, appearances and reality, and the stories people tell to survive their own secrets.
Together, my books reflect my evolving voice as a writer—emotionally driven, honest, and unafraid to explore the complexities of human relationships.
AuthorsWiki : Where did you get the inspiration for publishing books?
Mahwish Khan : My inspiration for publishing books comes from a mix of lived emotions, observations, and conversations. Writing began as a personal escape, but over time, the stories grew louder than the fear of sharing them. I found inspiration in love that feels too much, friendships that feel like family, betrayals that change people, and the quiet moments that stay unspoken but unforgettable.
AuthorsWiki : How do you manage your time to write a book?
Mahwish Khan : I manage my time to write by treating writing as a quiet commitment rather than a rigid schedule. Instead of waiting for long, perfect hours, I write in short pockets of time—late nights, early mornings, or whenever emotions feel honest enough to be trusted. Some days it’s a few lines, other days entire scenes.
I balance writing with everyday responsibilities by letting life feed the work rather than compete with it. Conversations, café visits, and ordinary moments often turn into ideas, making the process feel less like time management and more like attentive living. Consistency, not pressure, is what ultimately helps me finish a book.
AuthorsWiki : What is your favorite writing method — the one in which you write the most?
Mahwish Khan : My favorite writing method is emotion-driven, free writing. I write the most when I let scenes unfold naturally, without rigid outlines or overplanning. A feeling, a line of dialogue, or a sudden thought usually becomes the starting point, and the story grows from there.
I prefer writing in bursts—allowing emotions to lead and structure to follow later during editing. This method helps me keep the writing honest and fluid, capturing raw moments first and refining them only after the heart of the story is on the page.
AuthorsWiki : When did you start writing, and how did your interest in writing begin?
Mahwish Khan : I started writing in grade 9, at a time when words felt easier than explanations. What began as scribbles, diary entries, and short pieces slowly turned into stories as I discovered how writing could hold emotions I didn’t know how to speak out loud.
My interest in writing grew from observing people, listening to conversations, and trying to make sense of love, friendships, and heartbreak. Over time, writing became more than a hobby—it became my way of understanding the world and myself, and eventually, the courage to share those words with others followed.
AuthorsWiki : Is there any special achievement in your life that you would like to share with us and your readers?
Mahwish Khan : One of my most meaningful achievements is publishing my first book at a young age and releasing it on 9th May 2021, my father’s birthday—a moment that made the milestone deeply personal. Turning something that began as private writing into a published work gave me the confidence to trust my voice.
Beyond that, consistently choosing to write, grow, and publish again stands as an achievement in itself. Each book reflects my evolution as a writer and my courage to share stories rooted in emotion, honesty, and lived experience with readers who find pieces of themselves in my words.
AuthorsWiki : Are you planning to write or publish a book in the present or future?
Mahwish Khan : Yes, I am currently working on a new book titled Cup of Fate.
The upcoming book marks a new chapter in my writing journey, exploring fresh emotions, deeper layers, and the idea that small moments—sometimes as ordinary as a cup of something warm—can change the course of a life. Cup of Fate promises to carry my signature blend of feeling, introspection, and quiet intensity, offering readers another story shaped by chance, choice, and destiny.
AuthorsWiki : Would you like to give a message to your readers and fans?
Mahwish Khan : I would like to thank my readers for choosing my words, trusting my stories, and finding pieces of themselves within them. Every page read, every message shared, and every emotion felt makes the journey meaningful for me.
My message to my readers is simple: feel deeply, love honestly, and never underestimate the power of your own story. If my books remind you that you’re not alone in what you feel, then they have already done what they were meant to do.
AuthorsWiki : Every writer has their own ideal. Do you also have an ideal writer? And what are your favorite books that you always want to read?
Mahwish Khan : Yes, I do have an ideal writer. Jane Austen is one of my greatest inspirations, especially for the way she weaves emotion, wit, and subtle romance into everyday life. Pride and Prejudice holds a special place in my heart for its timeless characters, sharp dialogue, and the slow, meaningful unfolding of love.
It is a book I always find myself returning to—drawn to its comfort, depth, and the quiet strength of its storytelling. For me, Pride and Prejudice isn’t just a favorite read; it’s a reminder that stories rooted in human emotion never lose their relevance.
AuthorsWiki : Apart from writing, what are your other hobbies that you enjoy in your free time?
Mahwish Khan : Apart from writing, I enjoy reading and café hopping in my free time. Reading helps me unwind while also inspiring my craft, allowing me to experience different voices, styles, and worlds. Café hopping, on the other hand, feeds my love for conversations, people-watching, and quiet moments—often becoming the backdrop where ideas form and stories begin.
AuthorsWiki : Would you like to remain in the writing world in the future as well?
Mahwish Khan : Yes, I would like to remain in the writing world in the future as well. Writing is not just a phase or a passion for me—it is a part of who I am. I see myself continuing to grow as a writer, exploring new stories and perspectives, and staying connected to readers through my work.
No matter how life evolves, writing will always be my constant—a space where I can create, reflect, and tell stories that matter.
